We are blessed, and have decided to show our thanks by reaching out to veterans in need of a little extra help this holiday season. We put together several Thanksgiving Day Meal baskets filled with large turkeys, and all of the fixings for a wonderful holiday dinner; and personally delivered these baskets to the doors of veterans who have served or are currently serving our country. Many of the people we helped are currently out of work, or are struggling while waiting for military benefits to kick in. The wife of a soldier currently deployed in Afghanistan was extremely emotional when she received the basket of food, making the holidays a little brighter for her and her children.

Giving back each year will become a holiday tradition at DVBE Tech, and we are now preparing to help more people during the Christmas holiday. If you are a veteran in the Sacramento area that can use some assistance this holiday season, please send us an email, and we will do our best to help.

Thank you to the people who helped us locate these vets, including Louise Stanley of Soldier's Angels, Bob Burns of Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge #2484, and Ruben Martinez of Feeding God's Children. I spent 13 months in Iraq as an Army journalist where I flew in Black Hawks over Balad and Baghdad working to generate news coverage about my fellow soldiers. The whole experience was physically and emotionally draining, but it was especially difficult when I called home at the end of the day and nobody was there to answer.
For servicemen and women who are constantly on the move, having a single number and an easy way to retrieve messages from loved ones can be invaluable. To help our service members communicate with their loved ones and show our support to those serving our country, Google is launching a new program. Starting August 4,2009, any active U.S. service member with a .mil email address can sign up for a Google Voice account at www.google.com/militaryinvite and start using the free service within a day.
When you deploy, your life is put on hold. While you live and work in a different world, everyone else moves on with life back home. Your family and friends keep moving, and this sometimes means it's just not possible for them to stay awake until 2 a.m. to receive a phone call. Calling Iraq or Afghanistan is seldom an option.
Google Voice provides a solution to some of these problems. Service members can set up an account before they deploy. Or if they're already deployed, families can now set up an account for their service member. Loved ones can call to leave messages throughout the day,and then when that service member visits an Internet trailer, all the messages are right there. It's like a care package in audio form.
I signed up for an account when I came to Google, and it's already making communications much easier here in the States.I know when I return to combat,Google Voice will help make life a little more manageable.

XChange Government Integrator - June 10-12, 2009

Washington D.C.

How is the $787 Billion federal stimulus package going to help the infrastructure of America? That was the number one topic at the XChange Government Integrator conference held at the Gaylord National Hotel near Washington D.C. DVBE Tech had an opportunity to network within the federal sector and focus on IT installation opportunities that are scheduled to take place over the next few years. The future looks bright as jobs are created and greener more efficient tools and systems are built to enhance the Healthcare, Education, and Environmental industries. Speakers shared their vision of the future, each expressing their belief that our economy will recover, and we all can be instrumental in making this happen. New Technology is evolving into ”Smart Computing” which focuses on the optimization of tech tools. These tools are flexible, adaptable, and solve business problems. To do this, successful IT companies, such as DVBE Tech and it’s partners are looking at projects in four layers: Awareness, Analysis, Alternatives and Actions.

KEEPING THE PROMISE (KTP 2009)

Irvine, CA

The DVBE Tech team attended this event hosted by the California Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise Alliance ( CADVBE).
